Lynker Co-Authors Ecosystem Status Report in Hawai’i

Two Lynker employees, Dr. Erica K. Towle, Ph.D. and Dr. Mary E. Allen, are co-authors on the recently published “2022 Ecosystem Status Report Highlights Climate and Ecosystem Change in Hawaiʻi.” This interdisciplinary report includes ecosystem indicators on human connections, commercial landings by small boat commercial fishers, coral reefs and reef fish, climate change and ocean conditions, cumulative human impacts on the nearshore marine environment, and the vulnerability of nearshore marine ecosystems to climate change.

Lynker-Led Publication in AGU Journal

Lynker’s Lead Hydrologist, Keith Jennings, PhD, co-authored an innovative research paper that was just published in the AGU journal “Earth and Space Science” called Crowdsourced Data Highlight Precipitation Phase Partitioning Variability in Rain-Snow Transition Zone. In this paper, crowdsourced observations of rain and snow—reported with a web-based app—highlight the shortcomings of computer models and remote sensing platforms in monitoring precipitation phase at air temperatures near freezing. These data indicate that improvements can be made in water resources prediction if we can better leverage novel observation types and networks. He both develops and delivers on the strategies and architectures he creates.  We are very excited to have Kevin join our Lynker team!

Lynker Wins NWS NCEP Central Operations Contract!

Lynker is thrilled to be awarded NOAA’s National Weather Service NCEP Central Operations Network Infrastructure Services contract! This contract provides mission critical support of the networks that support the NWS mission by collecting and distributing raw and processed meteorological data and products. All mission critical watches and warnings, which are intended to save life and property, are routed through these networks.
