Lynker Welcomes Space Weather Expert Scott McIntosh!

Yesterday we announced the launch of Lynker Space, an exciting new space weather forecasting capability that allows us to provide high-precision, industry-specific forecasts and alerts to mitigate damaging and disruptive impacts to vulnerable assets, infrastructure and services near and on Earth.

Today we are welcoming renowned space weather expert Scott McIntosh, who is leading this effort as Lynker’s new Vice President of Space Operations. Scott has more than 25 years of experience as a solar and astrophysical researcher, and joins Lynker after serving as Deputy Director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research since 2019. Among his many accomplishments, Scott led the research team that accurately predicted an active Solar Cycle 25, contrary to the weaker activity predicted by most other groups.

“Scott is a unique talent within the space weather community. He is ideally suited to lead Lynker Space in its mission to take actionable space weather forecasts to the next level,” said Scott Rayder, Lynker’s President. “We welcome Scott as the first of several expected hires to Lynker Space, and look forward to leveraging his deep experience and expertise to help advance space weather forecasting for use by numerous industries.”

Lynker Space Launches Today!

Lynker is excited to announce the launch of Lynker Space! This new space weather forecasting capability allows us to provide high-precision, industry-specific forecasts and alerts to mitigate damaging and disruptive impacts to vulnerable assets, infrastructure and services near and on Earth.

Space weather presents a perpetual threat — even minor solar storms can have major impacts — and we now have the technology to deliver tailored forecasts for different needs and sectors (satellite operators, space traffic management, aviation, energy, GPS and more) with enough lead time to reduce the risk of operational and financial impacts while ensuring continuous and reliable performance.

We are fortunate to have renowned space weather expert, Scott McIntosh, spearheading this effort as Lynker’s new Vice President of Space Operations. Scott has more than 25 years experience as a solar and astrophysical researcher and most recently served as Deputy Director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
