Ready for the Storm: NDBC and Lynker in Action!
Hurricane season is here and we’re ready!
Dr. William Burnett, Director of NOAA’s National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) at the Stennis Space Center, sat down with The Weather Channel to talk about how NDBC is preparing for the most active months of the hurricane season.
With most of the season still to go, the rugged and resilient global network of 200 moored ocean buoys becomes absolutely critical. These buoys provide real-time atmospheric, oceanographic, climate, and tsunami data.
Dr. Burnett highlighted the complexity and importance of this effort, and we’re honored that he gave a shout-out to our team:
“So, it’s quite a complicated operation, but the team, the National Data Buoy Center team and our Lynker partner, just does a fantastic job to make sure that they’re as operational as they can be.”
Lynker is proud to support NOAA and NDBC in ensuring this vital data continues to flow, powering forecasts and protecting lives and property throughout hurricane season and beyond.
